The Girl Who Cannot Eat Peanut Butter is a rhyming story for young children about coping with food allergies. The girl of the title sometimes gets upset about having a food allergy, but then remembers that everyone in her class “has something special or different that no one else has.”

 

Sharon Chisvin is a journalist, oral historian and writer of fiction and non-fiction. She wrote The Girl Who Cannot Eat Peanut Butter when her eldest of three children, a daughter who cannot eat peanut butter, began elementary school. Sharon lives in Winnipeg, Canada with her husband, children and Maddie the dog.

Carol Leszcz has been a Junior Kindergarten teacher for 27 years and an artist her entire life. After making the illustrations for The Girl Who Cannot Eat Peanut Butter, she learned that both her children have food allergies. Carol lives in Winnipeg, Canada with her husband, children and Kelev the dog.
